This is what happened…

20 years ago, I really got into fishing, and I assumed that fishing was basically about being at the right place at the right time… and that you went to a lake picked a spot, and if the fish were there and willing to bite you would catch fish.

Later I met an older gentlemen and he took me fishing

But what happened next, completely confused me.

We didn’t just go out and cast out some bobbers and hope the fish came by… he looked at a lake map and actually figured out where the fish should be and he made a plan on how we would break the lake down and find the fish.

We drove around in the boat while watching the depth finder and tried a few different spots.

And what happened next changed my perspective of fishing.

We started fishing and in no time were catching fish after fish…

I remember counting the fish in the live well and doing the math 2,4,6,8,10,12…20 we had like 20 fish in no time.

We caught 38 BIG crappie in one spot!

A few days later he told me him and his buddy went to another lake but this time they caught 50 Big Crappie!

And after 2 or 3 times Hearing This I said I have got to learn to do what these guys are doing.  That kind of started my conquest to learn  how to actually catch crappie and all panfish.

And I remember I got to go to my first premier crappie lake and I fished it the way I thought I was supposed to and I got skunked… no fish…

And for me it was one of the most depressing things that ever happened to me as a fisherman.

I went to this great lake, and I caught no fish. I remember my buddy called me and I didn’t even want to answer the phone and tell him I caught nothing.

I got back home and kept having poor results. Sometimes I would catch some crappie, a lot of times I wouldn’t… or id catch one or 2.

But  I kept watching people doing this and they were catching so many. And I had friends that would show me all the crappie they caught but they wouldn’t tell me where.

I thought they can’t be that much smarter than me… right?

I’ve got to figure out how this works. So I started going through every crappie and panfish fishing training I could do. And every time id learn little pieces and little nuances and things that worked.

I kept fishing and trying different things and really studding the fish and how they moved through the seasons and I kept getting a little better every time.

And one time I remember I was fishing with my friend who was an expert fishermen (also a guide) and he was jigging and he caught his fish right away…

and he said hey Dan if your going to catch these crappie you have to jig this way.. and he taught me this little jigging technique…

and I did the technique I was skeptical I was thinking it only worked for him because it was so simple but I did it and sure enough just like he said I crushed the fish…

it was the first time I really caught a lot of fish jigging. And I literally kept taking all these little different pieces and changing them and tweaking them and taking all the different best things from all the different people I learned from as well as some things I figured out on my own and from that I built my strategies and techniques…

…until I started to master the skill, and I started really catching a lot of BIG fish!

I Started Catching Big Crappie,  Big Bluegill, and Jumbo Perch…

Every time I would fish a new lake I would use the same process to break down the lake and locate the fish.

Someone asked me to fish with them on a new lake I had never fished before, so I sat down and looked at a lake map and started putting together a game plan. The next day we went fishing and boom we slammed the panfish.

Over The Next 5 Years I have Broken Down Over 100 Lakes, caught thousands of crappie,  many that were trophy size…

And During That Time Perfected The Approach For Finding And Catching Crappie And Panfish And I List Them In What I Now Call: Dominate Fishing Insider Circle.
